NEW ORLEANS – Matthew Cormier, a seminarian of the Diocese of Lake Charles, recently made his final step prior to his ordination to the transitional diaconate when he gave the Oath of Fidelity and Profession of Faith for seminarians preparing for ordination to the diaconate to Father James Wehner, rector/president of Notre Dame Seminary.

LAKE CHARLES -- Christus HomeCare Hospice and Palliative-St. Patrick presents Power Up in Faith on Thursday, May 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Buccaneer Room of the Lake Charles Civic Center. This non-denominational luncheon for men and women will feature Father Jonathan Morris, a priest of the Archdiocese of New York and motivational speaker.

LAKE CHARLES -- The Bishop’s Dinner for Religious Emblems Recognition was held recently at the Knights of Columbus Hall of Council 4562 of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Various medals earned through Religious Emblem programs went to 35 youth while seven adults were honored for services rendered on behalf of Scouting.

LAKE CHARLES -- The annual Jazz Brunch, benefitting the work of Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana is Sunday, June 9, at the Lake Charles Country Club. The net proceeds from the event go directly to fund client services for Catholic Charities, a ministry of the Diocese of Lake Charles.
