LAKE CHARLES  -- Bishop Glen John Provost celebrated liturgies at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church on Thursday, Dec. 20, and at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, Friday, Dec. 21, and led prayers for reparation following the vandalism that occurred at the two churches.

Bishop Provost has asked Catholics of the Diocese of Lake Charles to join him in praying for the victims of the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, and their families. “We are filled with profound sorrow at this tragedy,” the Bishop said. The Bishop requested special prayers to be offered at Masses of the weekend of December 15-16, particularly in the Prayer of the Faithful. May God comfort those who mourn, grant eternal rest to the victims, and preserve us from violence.

LAKE CHARLES – A search has begun for a principal for the 2013-2014 school year at Immaculate Conception Cathedral Catholic School, according to Kimberlee Gazzolo, superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles. After 12 years as the Principal of Immaculate Conception Cathedral School, Dinah Bradford announced her plan to retire at the end of the 2012-2013 school year.
