Description

In Advent, we showed the film, “Of Gods and Men”, which told the story of Trappist monks who were martyred in Algeria in 1996.  Tonight we will show another film that has a deeply religious theme but was not shown in Lake Charles, “The Way” starring Martin Sheen and written and directed by his son Emilio Estevez.  In the film, Sheen comes to France to collect the remains of his adult son, killed in an accident on the Camino de Santiago, a medieval pilgrimage route that runs for five hundred miles through France and Spain leading to the Shrine of Saint James, the Apostle.  Rather than returning home, Tom, the main character, decides to continue his son’s pilgrimage to the holy shrine.  It is a story of modern faith, conversion and repentance.  The evening will open with prayer at six in the chapel, supper and then the film.  There is no cost for this event but free will donations will be accepted to help offset meal expenses as well as aid the Center’s Scholarship Fund. Join Father Whitney Miller and Father Don Piraro by calling 337-855-1232 to register.
