Description

Entitled “The 4th Gospel Written So That You May Believe,” Sister Barbara Breaud and Sister Terry Falco will lead prayer and reflection on this favorite gospel of St. Therese and other lovers of Christ.  We will explore this symbolic/historical document which emerged from the faith of the Community of the beloved disciple and insights scripture scholars have to offer of the struggles and challenges of this community.  Only in this Gospel do we meet the woman at the well who evangelizes the Samaritans.  Only here does Martha express her faith that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God who has come into the world, an expression which parallels that of Peter in the other gospels.  Here Mary Magdalene is the first person to see the risen Jesus and there is no mention of them doubting her word.  Only here is there reference to the Beloved Disciple.  Here we have Jesus washing His disciples' feet as an example to them.  Here we read Jesus’ last discourse, Jesus the vine and we the branches.  Here we are gifted with the enduring love that comes through Jesus Christ.  To register, call Ms. Elaine Trahan at 337-474-0178. Suggested donations: Private Room $190, Shared Room $160 per person, Dorm Room $125.  Day-only guests $75 per day.
