There are so many misconceptions about marriage annulments. Lay persons do not understand what an annulment is. Many divorced Catholics only know that they want an annulment. Some want annulments as they know they cannot marry again in the Church until they have obtained one. Pastors are very busy with all kinds of problems in the parish that they are not able to take much time to work with persons who seek annulments. Perhaps, pastors do not believe they are properly equipped to help people with the paperwork involved. Perhaps, so many people are wanting annulments that the pastor believes he does not have the time to devote to annulment work.

This website is devoted to the annulment process. It is designed to assist pastors in their work of preparing persons for annulments. It is also designed for persons to give people who seek annulments more information about annulments and the process of granting annulments. There is also a section for those wishing to know more about annulments for themselves or just out of curiosity. It is designed specifically for our Diocese of Lake Charles. But, the content may hold true for other dioceses as well.

If you are a pastor or church employee needing forms related to the annulment process, please click here. NOTE: These forms are for downloading by pastors, their representatives and church staff. Individuals interested in church annulments should meet with their pastors for forms. The Tribunal will not accept a Petition for Church Annulment from an individual. The pastor or his designee must be a part of the process and initiate the process on the Petitioner's behalf..
